Maria began singing at an early age. She was taught numerous folk songs by her mother, and would enter talent competitions, really enjoying being on stage.

She started her classical training at ten and began performing in singing Eisteddfods, winning classes including the unaccompanied folk song three years running. She completed all her grades with high marks, gaining a High Distinction in her grade eight exam. She learnt to sing a wide variety of music, from Handel to Mozart to Debussy to Gershwin to Benjamin Britten!

Maria sang throughout her school life, performing in many concerts and gigs. She was a soloist with the school chamber choir, and regularly took part in recitals, both in and out of school. On one occasion she was asked to sing at the Folk House with Keith Warmington and others, a gig which she thoroughly enjoyed.

She joined an amateur Musical Theatre club known as Bristol Musical Youth Productions, of which she was a member for six years. With them she performed shows including Return to the Forbidden Planet, 42nd Street, Pippin and West Side Story. Not really being one for acting, she preferred being a core member of the chorus, singing the high melodies and also holding together the harmony, while also dancing.

At Access to Music College she gained experience fronting bands, a challenge that she rose to as best she could. Singing over loud instruments was an entirely new experience for her, and taught her a lot about projection, power and control of the voice in a live setting.

At university she continued singing, both her own material and other peoples. It was during this period that she honed her skills as a studio vocalist. She loved recording, finding that it summoned entirely different vocal techniques from being on stage. Her natural drive meant that she was well suited to spending hours in the studio. It was also during her time at university that her interest in dance music grew, and as a result she involved herself in projects singing vocal hooks for drum and bass, house and Intelligent Dance Music.

Maria continues to sing at every opportunity. She is a versatile and open-minded vocalist who is always open to new projects!

Maria is an experienced singer with many different things under her belt. She has been classically trained to grade 8 standard, gaining distinctions in all her exams. She has been involved in the tradition of folk singing for years. She has performed regularly in Eisteddfods and concerts from a young age. She was a member of a Musical Theatre club for five years. She has fronted a rock band and a trip-hop band, and is currently fronting a new band. She has sang over different types of electronic music, something which she feels her voice is well suited to and is very interested in. And she has also worked extensively in a studio environment something which she gets a lot out of.

From pop-songs to classical pieces, film scores to experimental electro-acoustic music, Maria has composed in a wide variety of styles. She has been writing music for as long as she can remember, and has strived to rise to any musical challenge that has crossed her path. Rather than limiting herself to one particular type of composition, she has followed her inspiration wherever it has taken her, while still hopefully retaining her own sound. Contained in this website are examples of some of her work created during and after her time at university.

Once Maria had discovered the technological world of music, she immersed herself wholeheartedly. She is now able to use any software platform, having leant her way around lots of different programs including Cubase, Logic, Protools, Reason and Metasynth. Her natural perfectionism and attention to detail lent itself well to any role where she was needed to be a musical producer. She found that studio based work was something she could easily lose herself in. After years of compiling equipment, she currently owns a more than adequate home studio and is able to record and produce at will.
